Easter morning arrives, brimming with the promise of joy, renewal, and, let’s be honest, a little bit of indulgence. As the first rays of sunlight filter through the window, thoughts inevitably turn to what delicious treat will mark the start of this special day. While traditional breakfasts have their charm, sometimes the occasion calls for something truly extraordinary, something that sparks delight and sets a festive tone right from the very first bite. And that, dear friends, is where our ultimate Easter breakfast sensation comes in: the irresistible **Cadbury Creme Egg and Cinnamon Toast Soldiers**. Imagine soft, golden French toast sticks, lightly crisp on the outside, warmly spiced with cinnamon, perfectly crafted for dipping into the gooey, sweet core of a classic Cadbury Creme Egg. It’s a symphony of textures and flavors, a whimsical and utterly delightful way to kick off your Easter celebrations with a cheerful, chocolate-infused sugar rush.
Now, before anyone raises an eyebrow about encouraging an early morning sugar boost, let’s just say Easter is a time for bending the rules a little! As a self-proclaimed chocoholic who also tries to guide my children towards balanced eating, I understand the delicate dance. We often hear debates about whether sugar truly causes hyperactivity. While scientific opinions vary, I can attest that the energy levels of my kids after a packet of sugary sweets versus a bowl of fresh strawberries are notably different. Generally, we reserve chocolate and other sweet treats for the weekend, allowing ample time and space for them to run off any excess energy. However, Easter Sunday is a category unto itself – a day perfectly designed for delightful exceptions and memorable morning feasts.
This breakfast, without a doubt, leans heavily into the realm of sweet indulgence. It begins with slices of plush brioche bread, transformed into golden-brown perfection. Each finger of brioche is lovingly dipped into a rich custard bath of eggs and fragrant vanilla, then gently browned in shimmering butter until it boasts a beautifully crisp exterior and a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior. The finishing touch? A generous roll in a sparkling mixture of granulated sugar and aromatic cinnamon. This alone is a heavenly creation, but the true magic happens when you pair it with the iconic Cadbury Creme Egg. Dipping those warm, cinnamon-spiced soldiers into the creamy, fondant-filled chocolate egg is an experience of pure, unadulterated pleasure. It’s gloriously extravagant, a special occasion treat that defines the spirit of Easter. And yes, for this one special day, we’re happily setting aside any calorie counts and embracing the joy!
To make your Cadbury Creme Egg experience as seamless and delightful as possible, here are a couple of handy tips. Firstly, you might notice that Creme Eggs are typically smaller and have a slightly different shape than regular eggs, meaning they often won’t sit neatly in a standard egg cup. A simple solution is to place a small piece of tissue or paper towel in the bottom of your egg cup. This will provide the necessary lift and stability to hold the Creme Egg upright, making it much easier to dip your French toast soldiers. Alternatively, small sauce ramekins or shot glasses can serve as perfect impromptu egg holders, offering a stable base for your chocolatey delight.
The second, and perhaps most crucial, tip involves slicing the Cadbury Creme Egg itself. Due to its delicate fondant center and chocolate shell, attempting to saw through it with a cold knife can often lead to a crumbly, gooey mess – a delightful mess, perhaps, but one that’s harder to manage for dipping! The secret to a clean, precise cut is to heat your knife in hot water first. Simply run your knife under hot tap water for about 30 seconds, then quickly wipe it dry. The warmth from the blade will effortlessly glide through the chocolate and fondant, giving you a beautiful, intact half of the Creme Egg, ready for dipping. Trust me on this one; I’ve learned from experience that a little warmth goes a long way in preserving the integrity of that iconic gooey center!
This recipe came to life in my kitchen, and I can tell you, those brioche fingers vanished almost instantly after the camera was put down. The combination of warm, crispy, sweet French toast with the cool, rich chocolate and fondant of the Creme Egg is simply irresistible. It’s a breakfast that’s not just food, but an experience – a little piece of Easter magic to savor.
