I’m going to be that annoying person who makes you look through my holiday snaps today! Back on Friday with another recipe!
Our first visit to Italy was unforgettable.
Warm, sunny days, dramatic lightning storms over the mountains at night, refreshing swims in the lake, endless gelato and a happily alarming amount of pizza!
I won’t waffle on today — I just wanted to share some favourite snapshots from our trip. Chris took most of the photos; I’m terrible at taking pics while we’re on the move.
We spent two days in Venice: hot, bustling, and absolutely beautiful. In 24 hours we squeezed in two speedboat rides and a gondola trip, then headed to Lake Garda for seven days.
We drove around the lake in a tiny hybrid car—barely any power but very economical—and every stop revealed another charming beach or pier. The lake’s beauty was magnetic; we can’t wait to return.
Here’s Lewis, clearly thrilled that our transfer from the airport to the hotel was by boat!
Gracey, looking calm and content.
Our gondola ride in Venice — the gondolier even sang to us.
Evening by the waterfront at St. Mark’s Square, Venice.
Best mode of transport for exploring the area!
A fun day at Gardaland — the kids absolutely loved it.
Stunning views in Peschiera del Garda, on the southern shore of the lake.
One of the pretty shopfronts in Sirmione.
Early evening light in Lazise.
Lewis attempting his first dive into Lake Garda — it didn’t quite go to plan, but it was hilarious!
Gracey practising her dives and getting the hang of it.
Why I don’t wear bikinis—too many gelatos perhaps!
Or maybe it was all the delicious treats like these…
And this…
Pure bliss by the lakeside.
