Cranberry and Apple Hot Smoothie – a spicy, refreshing breakfast that warms you from the inside out. This light smoothie is satisfying and only 178 calories per serving.

This is the second in a short series of hot smoothies for cooler mornings: the Cranberry and Apple Hot Smoothie. The warming notes of cinnamon and ginger pair beautifully with tart cranberries and sweet apple for an autumnal flavour that’s both comforting and bright.
If you prefer a fresher, fruit-forward option, try the hot green smoothie from my earlier post. Over the next weeks I’ll be sharing some creamier variations—think chocolate, coconut and oats—for more filling breakfasts that still pack wholesome ingredients.
The Cranberry and Apple Hot Smoothie Recipe
Cranberry and Apple Hot Smoothie
Ingredients
- 20 g (2 1/2 tbsp) dried cranberries
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 6 g (1 cm) piece ginger, peeled and finely chopped
- 350 ml just boiled water (see method)
- 1 sweet dessert apple, chopped (Jazz or similar)
Instructions
- Put the dried cranberries, cinnamon and chopped ginger into a cup. Add 150 ml of boiling water, stir and leave to steep for 7–8 minutes. This will infuse the flavours and allow the liquid to cool slightly.
- Transfer the cranberry infusion and the chopped apple to your blender or smoothie maker. If the liquid still feels very hot, add a splash of cold water—never fill a blender with boiling liquid unless it’s rated for hot blends.
- Blend on high for one to two minutes until the cranberries and ginger are fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the blended smoothie into a cup and stir in the remaining 200 ml of just-boiled water to bring it up to serving temperature.
- If you want it hotter, heat the finished smoothie in the microwave or a pan for 20–30 seconds. Serve immediately.

I love cranberry in autumn — its tart brightness is perfect with warming spices. If you enjoy this flavour combination, try cranberry in scones, granola or festive bakes for more seasonal ideas.
